Fall Retreat (in person) at Watergirl Quilt Co. - November 17th, 18th and 19th
Fall will be upon us; crisp air and gardens beginning to hibernate. Still time to start a new or finish a project, perhaps a Christmas gift or two!
Join us for an in-person retreat at Watergirl Quilt Co. and make new friends and/or catch up with old ones. Learn something new perhaps and spend time doing what you love! There is sure to be good company, conversation and some laughter along the way.
This 3 day retreat is hosted by Michelle and her team. Let's dig out those projects waiting to be finished or started! Being in a room full of quilters is energizing!
You will have your own table. Plus, you may use our cutting mats, irons and ironing boards. Coffee and tea will be available all weekend, complimentary. Meals are included (see descriptions for more details) and you will receive a welcome gift.
Friday, November 17th
- Sew all day from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- 10:00 Welcome game with a prize.
- Enjoy morning snacks. Lunch will be served in the classroom, eat at your sewing spot.
- Dinner will be a group meal served at 5:30 p.m. in the community room of our Condo building. Participants are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages to dinner.
- Join us to make a Christmas/Holiday napkins in a guided activity (optional to participate).
Saturday, November 18th
- Sew all day from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Enjoy morning snacks. Lunch will be served in the classroom; eat at your sewing spot.
- 3pm: optional make and take. Cathy will demonstrate how to make a fun, fabric ornament
- Dinner will be a group meal served at 5:30 pm in the community room of our Condo building. Participants are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages to dinner.
- After dinner game: Fat Quarter Game (bring 3 Fat Quarters to participate or purchase some before the game. Theme is: I Spy. Details will be sent with registration information.
Sunday, November 19th
- Sew all day from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
- Enjoy morning snacks. Lunch will be served in the classroom; eat at your sewing spot.
- Work on your own projects.
- Wrap up with Show & Tell at 3pm. You may bring projects to show or show what you worked on during retreat, or both!
NOTE: Lunch and dinner meals included in registration fee. Vegetarian and Gluten Free options are available. All participants will be contacted 2 - 3 weeks prior to event to confirm such dietary requirements
In our classroom at Watergirl Quilt Co, you will be able to enjoy the use of our
- tables; for your comfort, some of our individual sewing tables are mechanical Sit / Stand desks.
- chairs; bring a seat cushion if you have one
- iron and ironing boards
- cutting mats on large table for cutting
- cutting mat at your workstation
Complimentary coffee and tea will be available in our kitchenette. Please bring a travel mug or sealed cup to avoid any spillage.
Don't feel like bringing your machine with you? Rental machines are available (limited quantity at special retreat pricing of $50 for the 3 days of use). This is also a great way to try something new. Please contact our store directly to confirm current pricing and availability.
You may enter via the main door of the store or if someone is in the classroom they can open this door to make it easier to bring your things in.
Fall will be upon us. The air can be brisk, so don't forget to bring a warm sweater and coat if you want to enjoy a nice walk along the Riverfront.
So are you in for some self care time? Come on your own or with friends. Pick a project or 2 or 3 and pack your sewing tote and your sewing machine, for 3 days of fun. Let us feed you and inspire you for a weekend of quilting fun!
Where do you lay your weary bones after that busy day of sewing on Friday and Saturday?
1. Drive back home to your own comfy bed where you will probably get to sleep under one of your own quilts. Leave your sewing machine and supplies safely waiting for you in our classroom for the second day of retreat.
2. Book a room at one of our local accommodations. Here are some links for you. This is a great excuse to treat yourself and a friend to a weekend away.
Zens Inn bed and breakfast style, single traveller rooms with shared bathrooms. Very modern. Walking distance to our store.
Dewars Inn and Cottages Riverside cottages and motel rooms. 5 minute drive from our store.
There are also a few Air Bnb rentals in Prescott. If you prefer a hotel chain, there are a few in Brockville (approximately 15 min. drive) and if you would like a roommate, we are happy to help facilitate that.
Limited parking spots are available in the parking lot at store level. Please refer to signage to ensure you are NOT parked in a spot that is designated for resident parking. Free long term town parking is available on the river side of our building, to the east. There is no parking allowed on the Water Street. E-chargers are available within the Shoppers Drug Mart parking lot.
NOTE: there is time limit for the parking in the Shoppers Drug Mart parking lot
Cancellation of Classes or Retreats
Should you decide to cancel your registration for an event, class or retreat, you will receive a full credit to a gift card as long as the cancellation is made more than 2 weeks prior to the class date. After that time, you will forfeit your full registration fee.
If you are unable to attend, you do have the option of finding your own replacement participant but Watergirl Quilt Co. will not assist with this or give any fee credit to the original participant. You would be required to email us the name and contact information of your replacement.
