Instructor: Patti Carey
Instructor Bio: Hello! Welcome to Patti’s Patchwork where you’ll find my blog, my pattern shop, information on my lectures and workshops, and the occasional quilting tip or tutorial. I feel blessed to be involved in an industry filled with so many kind generous people. I travel to quilt guilds and shops to inspire and educate quilters with interesting and entertaining presentations on how fabric is designed, and how to use it to our best advantage. I have been a creative person my entire life. I dabbled in many crafts in my younger years. My mom taught me to sew when I was 7 and I sewed my wardrobe throughout high school and beyond. I started working with Northcott in 1986 and was there for 38 years. I began quilting in 1987 when Northcott made the transition from fashion to quilting fabric and I quickly became hooked. I have been designing quilts for Northcott and for numerous quilting magazines since 1995. I was a regular contributor to The Quilter magazine, Love of Quilting and Easy Quilts and continue to contribute to the Golden Peak Media group of publications including McCall’s Quilting and Quiltmaker. Several of these projects have been cover quilts and best-sellers. In 2008 I started publishing my comprehensive line of quilt patterns that utilize efficient and time-saving techniques. I specialize in designing quilts using panels and border stripes. I design fabric as well. My first collection, Vino, designed for Northcott’s Banyan Batiks division, shipped to quilt shops in November 2019 and my second collection, Canoe Lake, arrived September 2021. I also designed the Color Play collection for Northcott in the Fall of 2022. Patti Carey teaching a quilting workshopI particularly enjoy teaching quilting. My evolving selection of popular project- and technique-based workshops has garnered return bookings at guilds and quilting conferences across North America. What a thrill it is for me to see a student take what they have learned in class and push it to the next level! I live in southern Ontario and enjoy all 4 glorious seasons that this area offers. I am married to a very patient and understanding husband and have 2 wonderful grown sons. In my spare time, Hubby and I enjoy travelling, cycling, golfing, snowboarding, cooking and wine-tasting.
