Sneak Away - 2 day Retreat

Is time running away from you?  We had so much fun making Jerry Sneakers at our May SEW-CREATE-CONNECT - Ultimate Bag Retreat, we thought this would be a great "optional" project for this retreat.  The Watergirl Team will guide you in making your very own Jerry Sneakers.   There will be an extra fee for this project. (Purchase the complete kit for $149 which includes the sneaker soles, wax thread, sewing awl tool, eyelets, bobbin needle; or if you already own the correct sewing awl then you can purchase only the soles, wax thread, and eyelets for $119.00). You will pay for your sneaker supplies at the retreat and select the appropriate size then.

Learn something new and spend time doing what you love!  There is sure to be good company, conversation and some laughter along the way. This is a great way for friends from different locations to meet up together and enjoy their passion for sewing.

OPTIONAL Project

We will be using Tara C. Sinclair; UhOh Creations "free" Jerry Sneaker pattern to make our sneakers.  Click here to obtain your free copy of this pattern.  

The soles (extra fee) we will using are from "SneakerKit".  They come in 3 colour options (white, black and natural) and sizes.



Watergirl Quilt Co will order in the "SneakerKit"  soles that are required for the Jerry Sneakers; registrants will be contacted for size and colour preference.

• Sew all day from 8:30 a.m. 10 p.m.
• Welcome loot bag
• 10:00 a.m. Welcome game with a prize.
• Enjoy morning snacks.  Lunch will be served in the classroom, eat at your sewing spot.
• 5:30 p.m. (approximately) dinner.  Participants are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages (alcohol may not be open until after store closure at 4:30 p.m.) 
• After dinner game: Fat Quarter Game (bring 3 FQs to participate or purchase some before the game)
• Laughter
• continue sewing to your heart's content.

Sunday,  August 10th

• Sew all day until 4:30 p.m. 
• Enjoy morning snacks. Lunch will be served in the classroom; eat at your sewing spot. 
• Work on your projects.
• 3 p.m. Wrap up with Show & Tell at 3pm. You may bring projects to show or show what you worked on during retreat, or both!

NOTE: Lunch and dinner meals included in registration fee. Vegetarian and Gluten Free options are available.  All participants will be contacted 2 - 3 weeks prior to event to confirm such dietary requirements

Allergy and Sensitivity Alerts

Customers suffer from various allergies and medical conditions.  To help avoid any incidents, we request you do not bring or wear the following:

• Seafood

• Peanuts

• Perfumes / scented products

Machine Rentals:

Don’t feel like bringing your machine with you?  Rental machines are available (limited quantities).  Please contact the store directly to confirm current pricing and make arrangements.

In our classroom at Watergirl Quilt Co.

You will be able to enjoy the use of our:

• work station tables; sit / stand, raise & lower mechanical

• chairs    NOTE: for added comfort, bring a seat cushion

• cutting mat at your work station

• cutting mats on large table

Complimentary

Coffee and tea will be available in our kitchenette.  Please bring a travel mug or sealed cup to avoid any spillage.  Tap water in our classroom is drinkable.

Arrival

You may enter via the main door of the store or if someone is in the classroom they can open its door to make it easier to bring your things.  The Retreat begins prior to store opening, please wait to be let in as staff may be busy completing their pre-opening duties.

Parking

Limited parking spots are available in the parking lot at store level.   Please refer to signage to ensure you are NOT parked in a designated residential parking spot.  Free long term town parking is available on the river side of our building (to the left).  There is NO parking allowed on Water Street.  E-chargers are available within the Shoppers Drug Mart parking lot.  NOTE: there is a time limit for parking at Shoppers Drug Mart. 

So are you in for some self care time?  Come on your own or with friends.  Pick a project or 2 or 3 and pack your sewing tote and your sewing machine for 2 days of fun. Let  us feed you and inspire you for a weekend of quilting fun and the quilt store at night shenanigans!

Overnight parking
The Quality Inn and Suites has it's own parking lot on site.

The Zens Inn has dedicated parking spots and they happen to be in the same lot as our store. Cars are safe there overnight.  Parking will be available at the Zens Inn spots until after 12 Saturday as there may be cars parked by those staying at the Inn Friday night.

The Ship and Anchor Inn has it's own parking near their location.  It is also only a short walk away.

Dewars Inn and Cottage is about a 5 minute drive west of the store.

Cancellation of Classes or Retreats
Should you decide to cancel your registration for an event, class or retreat, you will receive a full credit to a gift card as long as the cancellation is made more than 2 weeks prior to the class date. After that time, you will forfeit your full registration fee.

If you are unable to attend, you do have the option of finding your own replacement participant but Watergirl Quilt Co. will not assist with this or give any fee credit to the original participant. You would be required to email us the name and contact information of your replacement.
