Embroidery Design

Participants should choose a design prior to class.  Appropriate designs should have light stitching, not dense; no satin stitch.

When choosing the size of your design, consider the size of the hoop you will be using.  The hoop size should not exceed the size of your rope bowl base.  Billie recommends you select no larger than 6" x 6". *** see NOTE below

*** NOTE : it is preferable the base of bowl can be prepared prior to class (if you can keep the rope "corralled". If you are taking the Beginner class in the morning, you will need to create another base for this Level 2  class.

Billie suggests you choose a design that is not too intricate.  The focus of this class is to teach you the basics on how to embroider your rope bowl.

Instructor: Billie Stephens
Instructor Bio: Billie started quilting in 1991, when she was encouraged to take a beginner's class by her sister. She has been making quilts steadily since then, and is an active participant in the Ottawa Valley Quilters Guild, where she has previously served as president and on the guild executive. Billie loves learning new quilting techniques and has taken numerous quilting classes, including an introduction to Studio 180 design rulers taught in Lancaster PA by Deb Tucker herself! Although her favourite part of the quilting process is piecing, she now does her own quilting on the longarm she purchased in 2020. Billie began teaching on-line classes to friends and guild members during the Covid lockdown, and currently teaches in-person classes at quilt stores throughout eastern Ontario. She continues to use Deb Tucker's rulers as much as possible, and also enjoys the curved rulers from Sew Kind of Wonderful. Billie likes to pass on her knowledge to others, all the while having fun!
