What's the best material for making masks?

April 28, 2020

So mask making.... huge topic and huge amount of mask making going on across the world right now to try and stop the spread of COVID-19.

So what material should you use to make the most effective face mask possible?

Well, as I am a quilter and NOT a scientist, I will not dare to answer that question myself. However, I will share a link to an article dated April 20.2020  from the NY Times featuring scientific, research based, information to guide you in your choices if you are making your own masks.

Personally, I made my masks with Batik lining and 100% premium quilters' cotton on the outer layer. You could use elastic, twill tape, bias tape, some people have even cut up t-shirts to make ties.

I have a feeling that we will be wearing masks when in public, for quite a while so I hope that you find this article informative to guide you in your decision making.
