Mystery Monday - November 2nd
Happy Monday Watergirl Quilt Co. Crew!
It is a blustery, cold November morning here by the St. Lawrence River in Prescott, Ontario. I always find that November is a challenging month for me. The beautiful autumn leaves have mostly fallen to the ground and the world seems a bit too grey coloured for my liking. Not to mention that this summer-loving Watergirl has to adapt to cold weather! So that makes November a great month for getting into the sewing studio and get making! November is also significant in our home because it is the month of Remembrance Day on November 11th. In today’s fast-paced world, it can be easy to take our way of life for granted, and forget what so many men and women sacrificed for our freedoms. Remembrance initiatives remind us to take time to honour those who have dedicated their lives to serve our nation. My father-in-law, Retired Major George Kennedy served our country here in Canada as well as in Cyprus and Ghana and we remember him even more at this time of the year.

So perhaps you would like to make some Canadian Themed Face Masks this month or make a lap quilt to donate to Quilts of Valour Canada . Quilts of Valour volunteers work to ensure injured Canadian Armed Forces members, past and present are recognized for their service and commitment to our country. They give this support through the presentation of quilts. You may have seen on our social media this past Saturday, that we had quilt designer and instructor Paul Leger in Prescott and he delivered his first workshop of his two new Quilts of Valour patterns called True, North and Strong & Free. The full proceeds of the pattern for this workhop went right back to Quilts of Valor. We are also proud that we could support the local Prescott branch of the Royal Canadian Legion by renting their hall for this workshop.
So here is a bundle of inspiration for you on this November Mystery Monday!
