Happy February Crew!

Are you glad to be through January? I know that I am. It has never been my favourite month: the cold and snow, the absence of holiday decorations and the house seems a bit quieter. Well, it's February now and it is going to be FANTASTIC at Watergirl Quilt Co. because we have all of you who we know will dive right into the fun activities that we have planned just for our Crew.

So let's just run through the "itinerary" of activities that we have lined up for you!



Watergirl Quilt Co. UFO Challenge 2022 - February 1st - 28th

Why do we let those unfinished projects pile up? Because we get excited about new ones, or fall out of love with old ones and then we feel guilty! Well that's just silly to feel guilty but we can do something about the problem.

Join us in our private Facebook Group called Share Your Creations and be part of our encouraging and inspiring community. The guidelines for the challenge are posted right there and we hope to help you move out from under that growing pile of UFO's. Oh, and there will be prizes. Woohoo!



I wish I was there - not here Tropical Retreat - March 11th - 13th

Looking for some fun to break up the winter? Then you have come to the right place!

Sign up now for the 4th Virtual Retreat on Zoom, with The Dueling Quilters, Michelle and Lynn, and travel to a tropical destination with us by learning to make 3 small travel oriented projects. You will also get to sew in break out rooms with like-minded people, enjoy a lecture about Hawaiian applique, play games and laugh a lot! Registration includes a goodie bag!

Valentine, You Float My Boat Sale! February 4th - 18th

Who doesn't get excited about a huge bargain? We are sending some love your way with 14 days of rock bottom prices on some lonely fabric that needs a warm heart to cut it up and make beautiful creations with it!

Enjoy pre-cut half yard pieces of designer fabrics for only $5 each. You will be able to shop for them online or in-store and shop by colour on our website.

Shop a selection of over 200 bolts of designer fabrics at only $9 per yard! You will need to purchase it in one yard increments but who would object at that price! Stock up for backing fabrics. Available online or in-store.

 In-store only: all pre-cut, individual fat quarters are only $3 each. Fat Quarters are fantastic for small projects and scrappy quilts. Did you know that we have many books and patterns that are just for fat quarters? Ask us to show you some when you come in to shop.



Winter-Spring Workshops are Open for Registration

Thanks to all of you who answered our survey, we were able to get a good idea of the types of skills and projects that you are interested in learning more about.

We have a fabulous line up of classes, most are on Zoom and 2 are in person with more in-person classes coming for spring and summer.

You will have to go to the Classes Section of our website to read all of the descriptions. We have classes with instructors from all over Canada!

You can learn about walking foot quilting, quilt-as-you-go methods, improv piecing, use of colour, curved piecing, art quilts, beginner precision piecing, English paper piecing and so much more. 

Don't delay in signing up and enhance your skills while having fun.

We would like to thank Annie Urein of By Annie and all of the wonderful prize sponsors who are part of the Local Quilt Shop Contest. This contest is for quilt shops all over the world. Last year, over 1300 small businesses participated from 13 different countries. Thanks to you, our Crew and your friends and family, we are the proud 2nd Runner Up winner of the LQS Contest for 2021 and we are ready for you to vote us in as Grand Prize Winner this year, if that's okay? Always dream big!


Annie created this contest to promote and celebrate local quilt shops and as an opportunity for all of you to show your appreciation of what we offer. Both Annie and Watergirl place a high value on community. Our goal is that you all feel welcome, inspired and enriched by your participation as part of our Crew.

You can vote at the LQS Contest website and this year, if you upload a photo of you in our shop, or opening your happy mail from us, we get bonus points on the votes! Sounds fun too.
