We need your help to make a quilt!

Watergirl Quilt Co.

Good morning Crew!

It has been a while since we connected through our newsletter. We have been very busy at Watergirl Quilt Co. getting set up to be a BERNINA sewing machine dealership and we are super excited and proud to be carrying such high quality machines.

We also had a blast at our first every quilt show in Ottawa on the the weekend and would like to thank all of the volunteers and the Common Thread Quilt Guild for hosting that inspiring event. Our booth was very busy and we thank you for being there for us! It was great to meet many of our Crew there and to make new friends too!

Today, we are asking for your support and help.

This past weekend, a family of four arrived in Prescott from Ukraine. Mom, Dad and their two children are living very close to our shop. We wish to extend a very warm welcome to them and what better way to do that then with a quilt made with love. Local volunteers have already made quilts for the children but we would like to make one for Mom and Dad too.

Would you be able to join us at our Education Centre on Wednesday, May 18th from 9:30am to 4pm for an in-person sewing day? Watergirl Quilt Co. will supply the fabrics, batting and use of our long arm machine to get our quilt made as soon as possible. We will be following the Pat Sloan Quilter's Stand For Ukraine pattern which is 12 blocks plus sashing.

Here is a beautiful example of the pattern, made by one of our Crew, Susan C. from Orleans, Ontario. It has already been donated and we are very proud to see so much generosity from our community.

Ukraine Quilt

We would love to gather 10 quilters to work together on May 18th at our Education Centre in Prescott. You would need to bring your own sewing machine, rotary cutter, a ruler for squaring your blocks and your usual sewing notions.

Please bring your lunch if you wish. We will have tea and coffee available for you and some treats. Can't sew without treats!

Let's rally together and show this family that we care about them and we admire their courage.

To register for this event, please email info@watergirlquiltco.com or call the store at 343-260-9227 as soon as possible.

We know we can count on you to stand up and help!

Stay safe, stay hopeful and do something that makes you smile!

Michelle and the Watergirl Team

P.S.

You can look at pattern at this link and you may wish to print your own copy to bring with you. It is a confident beginner block and do not worry, we will all work together to make sure that everyone is able to complete the block! Come learn, enjoy being with others and feel like you are doing something to help in such difficult times. We know that not all of you are local to us and remember that we have a Facebook group to share information about how we can help wherever we live. Thank you.
