Patterned Rails Pattern By Modern Blended Quilts
Patterned Rails is a modern take on a traditional quilt design, “Fence Rail” quilt. This alternate block layout has rails moving positions in the quilt and is complemented with a secondary pattern of vertical lines.
The vertical solid fabric lines were inspired by the animated rain lights in Tempe Town Marketplace in Arizona.
Take assorted 2 1/2” strips, a dark and light solid fabrics to make this quilt in three sizes; baby, lap or twin.
To make fabric selections simple, consider:
- A 10” layer cake or jelly roll and yardage of two contrasting solids for the baby or lap quilt.
- Two jelly rolls and yardage of two contrasting solids will make twin quilt.
